Chocolate covered Strawberries!!

Friday, November 7

After about 5 hours of sleep I packed up my trusty backpack and hopped on a train for 8 hours. And I promise it wasn't nearly as bad as it sounds. I got on the train just before 7 and fell fast asleep for the first 3. I woke up about 2 hours before we got to Koeln (Cologne) to find a guy staring at me. Creepy? Yes!

When we finally made it to Koeln and were getting off the train he tried to make conversation, in German of course. "It's really smart that you brought a pillow." "Thanks it was an early train." awkward pause. "I see that your reading Lessing." "Yes, I'm a student." awkward pause. And it goes on and on and on until I finally lost him in a crowd in the train station. With about a 45 minute connection I sat down and people watched for a while and then got to run across the street to see this BEAUTIFUL cathedral!! So pretty!

Then I hopped back on a train for 2 hours where I FINALLY met up with Katie in Brussels! We headed back to our hotel. That's right, no "s" in that word. HOTEL! And let's be honest, its not a 5 star like my dear friend McKinley's experiencing in Paris but having our own bathroom AND I don't have to lock up my stuff when we leave!! So wonderful!

We wandered back to the city center and saw a couple of really pretty churches, the town hall and main square. As we were wandering around we found this Belgian Chocolate store. Imagine with me: Belgian Chocolate fountain and strawberries. Unbelievable!! We had a wonderful dinner and then wandered around some more before heading back to the hotel. We took showers and hopped in bed and watched Licensed to Wed before falling asleep. What a wonderful day in Brussels!
